First, look for sawdust trails and find out where they nest because otherwise it’s a lost cause trying to get rid of them. Listen for crunching noises. Take care of your lawn: remove dead stumps and piles of wood, and keep the lawn trimmed because these are the opposite of what Carpenter ants enjoy. Use boric acid. Try putting white gravel around your house. Replace the foundations in your house, particularly the basement, as they may try to nest in there.
